New series of photographs by Michael Wolf exploring confined space.Breath, condensation and unnatural lighting adds years to the faces of the Japanese metro commuters. The photographs bring out a suffering in the peoples expressions. The metro brings out an undefined sadness in them. There is a strong depiction of a narrative. The commuters may be reliving sad uncomfortable memories. Each passenger is so far away in thought, but the physical proximity to one another is imploringly claustrophobic. This comparison makes way for quite fantastical images, straight from the storyboard.
